Questions people actually have
How do I get my partner in?
Open Profile → Manage household. The invite code is the first thing on the screen. They open Nomme, and on the "Who's cooking together?" step tap Have an invite code? Anyone holding the code joins your household, so share it the way you would a door key.
We swiped and got no match
A match needs everybody to like the same dish. With two people that usually happens within the ten cards; with four it often does not, simply because everybody has to agree. Start another round. The cards are picked fresh each time. Or widen your preferences under Profile → Food preferences.
Nothing appears when I press start
Almost always the preferences have narrowed things to nothing. If you have excluded a lot of ingredients or set a short maximum cooking time, try relaxing one of them. The app tells you when it has nothing left to offer rather than showing an empty deck.
My partner ticked something and I cannot see it
The list is one shared document and updates within a second or two on a working connection. If a phone has been offline, the ticks appear as soon as it reconnects. If they still do not, check that both of you are in the same household under Profile → Manage household.
The notification never arrived
Notifications have to be allowed on the receiving phone. Open Nomme's shopping list on that phone once and accept the prompt, or switch it on in the phone's own settings under Nomme. Someone who has never allowed them cannot be sent the list, and the sender is told so.
The recipe is in English
Almost every recipe is translated into all five languages. A handful are not, and those are shown in English with a note saying so, rather than being hidden from you.
How do I delete everything?
See Delete your data.
Where the recipes come from
Nomme does not invent recipes. They come from public health bodies, which is why they are sensible rather than sponsored:
| Source | Terms |
|---|---|
| USDA MyPlate Kitchen (United States) | Works of the US federal government carry no copyright (17 U.S.C. § 105) and are free to reuse. |
| NHS Healthier Families (United Kingdom) | Crown copyright. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Source: nhs.uk/healthier-families/recipes. |
Every recipe screen names its source and links to the original. Amounts are converted to metric, including the ones written inside the method, which is where American measurements usually survive a translation.
If you hold rights to something here and want it removed or credited differently, write to dalstengroup@outlook.com and it will be dealt with.
