About Nomme

Nomme is an app for two people deciding what to eat. Both swipe through the same recipes on their own phones; the app shows only what both of them picked, plans a week from it and keeps one shopping list in sync on both phones. It is on Google Play and the App Store.

Who makes Nomme

Nomme is made by Dalsten Group AB (Swedish organisation number 559542-6304), a small independent app company in Sweden. Nothing on this site is sponsored and there are no affiliate links.

Where the recipes come from

The recipes come from two public health sources: MyPlate from the USDA, which as a work of the US federal government is in the public domain, and Healthier Families from the NHS, which is Crown copyright and used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. What is ours is the selection: each page answers one question a couple actually asks (one of you is vegetarian, one of you cannot eat nuts) and the recipes on it are filtered from a structured catalogue of ingredients, diets and allergens.

How the lists are made

We decide the questions and the filters, but no list is put together by hand. Every recipe in the catalogue is broken down into its ingredients, each ingredient is tagged with the diets it fits and the allergens it contains, and a page shows the recipes that pass all of its filters. A page that says free from an allergen leaves out every recipe with an ingredient tagged with it.

How the text is written

The explanatory text on each page and its translations are drafted with the help of AI from the same catalogue. They are not reviewed one by one by a person, so a mistake can slip through: if you find one, tell us. Pages are rebuilt when the catalogue changes.

Check allergens on the packaging

An allergen filter is only as good as the ingredient list it reads. It cannot know what is in the products you buy: stock, spice mixes, sauces, bread, wraps and other ready-made ingredients often contain allergens the recipe does not name, and brands differ. Always check the packaging of what you buy, and follow your doctor's advice for a serious allergy.
